Taking stock

Tyffanie

The days are getting warmer and the backyard only sees patches of ice and snow.  It’s time to take stock of what survived, what didn’t, and any surprises or tragedies.

This last winter was a doozy.  It was cold but we had a wonderful blanket of snow.  Unfortunately, the snow did not cover my boxwood or bamboo very well.  They are sunburnt.  I blame myself.  I should have taken an extra step to cover them this past winter.  But c’est la vie.
Also, many planters are busted.  All season my… so frustrating.  The biggest surprise was the rain barrel.  I specifically diverted the water but looking at it now, I guess a storm knocked the arm of and it flowed directly into the barrel.  The power of water is amazing sometimes.  Frustrating at other times.

But the great surprises are the signs of life already emerging.  I can’t believe the backyard is warm enough for these things to pop up.  I believe it is my siberica but might be the snow-drops.  Hmm… will keep you updated 🙂
