Day 1 of Soils and Plant Growth
Welcome back to school! Today is day 1 of being a student again. I’m taking the online remote learning course of Soils and Plant Growth by the University of Guelph.
You may all know I have aspirations of becoming the number 1 drag queen gardener of Canada. The number 1. Therefore, I need to step up. I need to show I have the skills, knowledge, and can put in the time. I need to work towards (at the very) a certificate in horticulture.
Working towards that goal, I’m also a Master Gardener in Training with the Rideau 1000 Islands Master Gardeners. Exciting! I have attended my first meeting. I’m still getting my feet wet. Very early days. I’m excited!
My first assignment for the Soils and Plant Growth course is to grow snow peas from seed. Throughout the 12 week course, I’m to take scientific measurements such as plant height, observations, number of leaves, etc. The first step being to sow some seeds. Cross fingers they germinate. Planted January 9, 2023.
