Total Eclipse in the Park

April 8 @ 1:00 PM 5:00 PM EDT

Total Eclipse in The Park

Join us at Grass Creek Park from 1-5 p.m. on Monday, April 8!

New location for Total Eclipse in the Park!

Due to an anticipated high number of visitors to Kingston on April 8, the City’s signature event, Total Eclipse in the Park is moving to a new location. Join us at Grass Creek Park from 1-5 p.m. on Monday, April 8! Limited parking available: we recommend avoiding traveling through downtown Kingston to get to Grass Creek Park. Instead, take the Joyceville exit, off the 401, continue on Joyceville Rd/Kingston 16 to Highway 2 to reach Grass Creek Park. This is a rain or shine event.

Things to do:

  • Floydium performs Dark Side of the Moon in full + Pink Floyd’s greatest hits
  • Drag performance by Tyffanie Morgan
  • Beer tent hosted by Daft Brewing
  • Beavertails food truck
  • Interactive learning with STEM Camp Kingston
  • Face Painting
  • Queen’s University Eclipse Ambassadors will be on-site throughout the park to guide you through your eclipse viewing!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

On April 8, 2024, Kingston will experience its first total solar eclipse in nearly 700 years. For a few minutes in the afternoon, we will be in the path of totality, which means the Moon will be perfectly aligned between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out the Sun’s rays entirely. Kingston won’t be in the path of totality again until the year 2399, so we won’t let this once-in-a-lifetime celestial event pass us by!

The total solar eclipse will begin in Kingston at about 2:09 p.m. and will reach the path of totality (maximum coverage by the Moon) at 3:23 p.m. The full cycle of the eclipse will conclude at 4:35 p.m.

We expect to welcome thousands of visitors from around the world to Kingston for this spectacular celestial experience. Traffic will be significant and we recommend free public transit and active transportation to get around Kingston that day. All residents and visitors are advised to anticipate significant road delays in the hours before and after the eclipse.
