Soils and Plant Growth course is over

My University of Guelph – Soils and Plant Growth online course is over. From January to April 2nd, I did the reading, the instructional videos, the written assignments, my final assignment, and one of two group discussions (what can I say, I’m not perfect).

Speaking of not perfect, I did not get a final 100% grade. I think I’m going to be leaving the course with a 92.5% mark. That is, if my mathematics are accurate. Final grade has not been officially assessed and on the record. I think that means I’m an A student! Yeah! I’m glad. I did it!

Why was I taking a course at University of Guelph? I want have a certification of my gardening knowledge. The gardening world is full of well meaning people who have good intentions but somtimes not the knowledge. To show to myself and the world, I am a Master Gardener in Training. Which is exciting. To become a full fledged Master Gardener, education or a test is required. There is also the requirement of volunteer hours and continuous education each year. But suffice to say, I think it is a great way to show I’m committed to gardening.

I first thought I wanted to certify by completing the education. A full three courses is required. I’ll be honest, doing this one online course was a challenge. Mostly a challenge in my time management (or lack there of). I kinda knew it might be a risk. Going back to school in so many years. It will challenge anybody with a full time job, part time job, and gardening.

I may do future online courses. But likely during Fall/Winter. The Spring/Summer is a busy time of year for us drag queen gardeners. However, I’m going to focus on completing the test. I got to study a little more.
